Federal Court Confirms Seaman’s Right to File In State Court

On February 28, 2014, a Washington Federal Court in Coronel v. AK Victory, Inc., Case No. C13-2304JLR, remanded a seaman’s claims under the Jones Act and general maritime law back to the state’s Superior Court; holding the claims were appropriate for state court filing under the savings to suitor’s clause and the Jones Act.
