James M. Beard has a unique understanding and compassion for the clients he represents. For over 30 years his legal career has been devoted to representing crewman and commercial fisherman who have been injured while working at sea. He is widely recognized as one of the most experienced lawyers in the Pacific Northwest in handling maritime wrongful death and personal injury cases. Jim is proud of his roots growing up in Ilwaco, Washington, a small fishing village located at the mouth of the Columbia River. He also has personal experience, having worked on fishing vessels, oyster dredges, and doing longshore work breaking freight. Jim understands the impact serious vessel injuries have on injured crewman and their families. In 1986, he established his own practice in Ballard, Washington. Jim successfully represented crewmembers and their families in many wrongful death and sinking cases, including claims arising from the sinking of the vessels VESTFJORD, ALEUTIAN ENTERPRISE, ALASKA RANGER, ARCTIC ROSE, GALAXY, AMBER DAWN, NESIKA, KATMAI, PACE SETTER, LADY CECELIA, and PACIFIC APOLLO.
